In 2024, the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit was successfully held in Beijing. This significant diplomatic initiative by China towards Africa and other developing countries took place against the backdrop of accelerating global changes unseen in a century. Both China and Africa unanimously adopted two pivotal outcome documents with distinctive contemporary characteristics: the "Beijing Declaration on Building a New Era of China-Africa Community with a Shared Future" and the "China-Africa Cooperation Forum - Beijing Action Plan (2025-2027)". These documents elevate the China-Africa relationship to the strategic height of a new era of a China-Africa community with a shared future. Against this backdrop, China's mining investments in Africa are set to further intensify.
Africa's rich mineral resources have attracted numerous mining enterprises to invest and establish operations. However, opportunities often come with risks. As critical minerals and the mining industry gain increasing attention from the international community, competition in the mineral sector has shifted to supply chain competition. International organizations, government departments, investment institutions, trading bodies, and non-governmental organizations are all demanding that multinational corporations extend ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) governance to their supply chains. Enterprises operating in Africa will face multiple pressures and challenges in supply chain due diligence governance.
To assist mineral enterprises in Africa in understanding global supply chain due diligence governance rules and trends, identifying and addressing key risks and issues in supply chain due diligence governance, and engaging in practical exchanges to enhance their supply chain management capabilities, Beijing Liande Consulting Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Responsible Critical Minerals Initiative (RCI) and the Graduate School of the University of Cape Town, South Africa, plans to conduct the "ESG Empowerment Management Training for Mineral Supply Chain Enterprises (South Africa Special Session)" in Cape Town, South Africa, from April 14 to 18, 2025.
